FUZHOU, China, Dec. 14, 2021 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– From December 8th to 12th, the 8th Silk Road International Film Festival was held in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China. The event was sponsored by China Media Group, Fujian Provincial Government and Shaanxi Provincial Government, and organized by the Fujian Film Administration, Fuzhou Municipal Government and CCTV-6 Film Channel.

The winners of 8th Golden Silk Road Awards are as follows:

-I Never Cry, for Best Film;

-Celine Sciamma, Director of Petite Maman, for Best Director;

-Gong Zhe was honored as Best Actress for her role in Island Keeper;

-Liu Ye was honored as Best Actor for his performance in Island Keeper;

-Turaj Aslani (Iraq/Syria), for Best First-time Director;

-Lennert Hillege (Netherlands), for Best Cinematography;

-Crossing the Yalu River, for Best Visual Effects;

-The Mole Agent (Chile), for Best Documentary Film; and

-Where Is Anne Frank (Belgium/Luxembourg/France/Netherlands), for Best

Animation Film

According the Office of Executive Committee (Fuzhou) of the Silk Road International Film Festival, during the five-day Festival, nearly one hundred film professionals from countries and regions along the Silk Road gathered in Fuzhou and discussed the development of the film industry. Movies are used as a tie to promote cultural exchanges between China and the countries and regions along the Belt and Road.

Pumpkin is an immune system booster food containing high amounts of beta carotene antioxidants, which turns into vitamin A in your body. It also has vitamin C, an essential nutrient in enhancing your immunity.

Pomegranate and Apple are a good source of vitamin C, pomegranates are also known for their antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

Review Meeting with the Master Trainers of Social and Religious Tolerance held

Khairpur, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): A Review Meeting of the Master Trainers of Faculty of Social Sciences, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur who availed training on Social and Religious Tolerance. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed, Vice Chancellor presided over the review meeting.

Talking to the participants of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said it is a great opportunity for us that maximum number of Faculty Members of Social Sciences among the 6 Universities availed the training on Social and Religious Tolerance organized by the Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS) at Lahore. He said the training aimed at for capacity building of the capacity building and it provided a conducive environment for linkages and interaction.

Dr. Ibupoto appreciated the efforts of Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator, IUCPSS who contributed positively for organizing such academic interaction. Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator, IUCPSS highly appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for motivating the Faculty Members who participated in the training programs. He assured the Vice Chancellor that 20 students of the University will also avail visits and trainings at University of Punjab, Lahore very soon as part of the academic exchange.

He said such training workshops will mitigate the perception of extremism and provide a viable platform for national cohesion and nation building. 1. University/College/Institute must provide names of participants and their respective department as a verifiable entry prior to event by filling and sending attached forms to the event management team.

2. Students are required to show both University ID Card and CNIC for verification.

KP Govt plans to build GIK Institute new academic and residential block, Mohammad Atif Khan

Swabi, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Mohammad Atif Khan, provincial minister for science and technology and IT, said that the KP government would build a new academic and residential block in Ghulam Ishfaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. He was addressing the students’ after the inauguration of the Catalyst Technology Incubation Centre in GIK Institute. The two gatherings were also attended by Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, SI, Rector, GIK Institute, Sardar Aminullah Khan, Pro-Rector, Admin and Finance, Prof Dr Wasim A Khan, Pro-Rector Academics, deans, directors, provincial secretary of Science and Technology, Dr Ambar Ali Khan, Dr Faisal and Dr Sajid Shah and various other officials.

Atif Khan said that the KP government would extend complete financial support to the GIK Institute and some of its projects would be included in the current financial year and the remaining in the 2022-23 annual development program. He also announced that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan would visit the institute soon to inaugurate the girls’ hostel. The minister said the government has worked on boosting the linkages among the industry, academia and government. “This (improving linkages) is our first and foremost priority,” he said.

“Whenever I visited GIK Institute I was so much impressed that my belief strengthened that Pakistan would soon be economically prosperous and financially sound. The students and academia work hard here,” he remarked. He said only those nations are strong which developed indigenous technology and those lagging behind in this field faced numerous problems and confronted different challenges.

“The development of science and technology is very critical for development in various other fields. If I had the power, I would have diverted all development funds to the field of science and technology,” he said, adding that the development of the nations is linked with the achievements in the field of science and technology.

The minister said that the Education Technology Project would be set up in Mardan, Swabi and GIK College. He said that the KP government had planned to build a Science Museum which would cost Rs 500 million. Prof Khalid said that the institute would submit proposals about the electronic centre, technology incubation centre, reverse engineering, micro hydro-project, building another girls hostel, special technology zone, climate change and education technology project.

“We wanted to be an active partner of the provincial government and ready to play a role in making a cluster of engineering universities in the province,” he said. Earlier, the minister visited the incubation centre and exchanged views with the students about their projects. He admitted that he was impressed by them, especially the manufacturing of drones.

Director, Incubation Centre, Abdullah Soomro, apprised the minister: “We could build our own drone within the next six months if we have the resources. At present we are getting drone making materials from the US and China. A single drone costs Rs 1.5 million but the indigenous can save a lot of foreign exchange and resources.” He also visited the academic block which was financed by the provincial government. The minister gave away certificates to outstanding students at the end of the function.

President AMUOBA, Jawaid Anwar laid foundation to Jama-e-Masjid Sir Syed at SSUET New Campus

Karachi, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): The President, Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), and Chancellor, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Jawaid Anwar laid foundation stone for the construction of the Jama e Masjid Sir Syed at the SSUET News Campus in Education City.

The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, General Secretary AMUOBA, Muhammad Arshad Khan, Sardar Yasin Malik, Lt. General (r) Moinuddin Haider, Cmdr. Laying the foundation for the mosque, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that mosques play important role in Islamic Society. Islamic Doctrines are incomplete without mosques. It is beyond doubts that those who take part in construction of the mosques are the Chosen Men of God. General Secretary AMUOBA, Muhammad Arshad Khand pointed out that Jama e Masjid Sir Syed will be constructed on 45600 sq. feet and around 2000 worshipers will be able to offer namaz in the Jama e Masjid Sir Syed. The Design of the mosque is of the same style as that of Aligarh Muslim University Mosque and it will be given a magnificent look matching international standards.
