Islamabad, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 6 in 10 businesses are confident that the future will be better. However, the Net Future Business Confidence score decreased by 19% (falling from 41% to 22%) since Quarter 2, 2021.

A nationally representative sample of businesses across Pakistan was asked the following question, “What are your expectations for the future of your business compared to the past?” In response to this question, 16% businesses said very good, 45% said good, 24% said bad and 15% said very bad.

CEMS organised screening camp, walk and seminar to mark World Diabetes and COPD Day at UVAS 

Lahore, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Center for Emergency and Medical Services (CEMS) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab observed ‘World Diabetes and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day’ here in city campus Lahore. Various activities arranged including seminar, screening camp and walk to raise awareness among the public regarding prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCD).

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad along with Programme Manager (NCD) Dr Faisal Masood chaired the seminar. Associate Prof Endocrinology from SIMS Dr Amena Moazzam and renowned Pulmonologist Dr Abdul Wahab Gureja were the guest speakers. They delivered their lectures on the topics of diabetes and COPD and Director Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dr Tahir Mahmood Khan gave a detailed presentation on diabetic self-care and role of pharmacist while a number of faculty members and students attended seminar.

While addressing the seminar, Prof Dr Nasim said that it is direly needed to create awareness among public about the diabetes and COPD for the betterment of public health. Prevention is better then the cure, he added. He said that UVAS providing conducive environment of learning for the skills enhancement of students. Dr Faisal Masood said that it is necessary to add awareness topics regarding such diseases in the curriculum of early education of students for their understanding.

Later, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad along with Dr Faisal Masood led the walk while Principal Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Senior Tutor Dr Ali Raza Awan, Dr Irfan Siddique, Mehwish Imtiaz and many faculty members and students participated. The walk started from the Veterinary Academy and culminated in front of Vice-Chancellor office after took a round of City Campus.

Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) Conference held at UVAS 

Lahore, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Qiraat and Naat Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) Conference in City Campus Lahore. Various activities organised including Qiraat, Naat, Debate and Kalam-e-Iqbal in connection with Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) Conference.

Chief Executive Youth Club Raja Zia-ul-Haq was the guest speaker of the conference. He highlighted the salient features of his teachings and emphasized on the need to motivate the younger generation to adopt and practice the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The aim of the conference was to enlighten the different aspects of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) life.

Study Trip to Islamabad Stock Exchange

Wah Cantt, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):Department of Economics arranged a Study Trip for the students of BS, MSc and MS to Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) on 15 November, 2021. The aim of the trip was to brief students about the operations and maneuvers of ISE. Mr Muhammad Saqib, Assistant Manager Operations ISE Limited apprised the students about ISE and its working.

Moreover, the students had an informative interaction with Mr. Liaqat Ali Khan, CEO Spinzer Equities (Pvt.) Limited, followed by practical orientation of the actual market transaction in the companies by the brokers. The trip, conclusively, provided the great opportunity to learn about the work of ISE and its key roles.

Visit of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities to QAU, Islamabad 

Wah Cantt, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UW organized a one-day visit to Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad for all the departmental heads of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UW on 11 November, 2021. The visit included meetings with the Registrar-QAU, Dean, Social Sciences-QAU, Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, and the faculty of Social Sciences-QAU.

The visit aimed at providing a model for success by highlighting the salient factors and to explore a work environment in each area of interest through mutual interaction. The interaction proved to be inspirational and positive in terms of opening new research vistas for UW faculty. Dean and Chairs FSS-QAU were also invited for visiting UW for further discussion and deliberation and looking into the possibility of MoUs between the two Faculties in areas of joint interests.
