IBA Karachi and The Searle Company collaborate to establish Rashid Abdulla Consumer Neuroscience Lab

Karachi, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):School of Business Studies (SBS), IBA Karachi, signed an agreement with The Searle Company, to establish the Rashid Abdulla Consumer Neuroscience Lab, at IBA Main Campus. The Searle Company was represented by the Managing Director (MD), Dr. S. Nadeem Ahmed, while the Executive Director IBA, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, signed on behalf of IBA.

The Searle team included Chief Operating Officer, Tahir Ahmed; Chief Operating Officer, IBL Operations, Rizwan Ahmed; Chief HR Officer, Athar Iqbal; Director, International Business, Moujood-ul-Hassan; Director, Regulatory and Business Development, Muhammad Sajid; and Director, Consumer Business, IBL Healthcare, Mustafa Moosajee.

The Rashid Abdulla Consumer Neuroscience Lab will transform consumer research and collection of data through knowledge and understanding of neuro-marketing and behavioural research. This is a huge opportunity for academics and practitioners to get unbiased responses in real time to enable an accurate depiction of buying behaviour.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Zaidi stated that this collaboration will strengthen the academia and industry linkages. He further added that this was a commendable and major initiative as consumer neuroscience is an emerging field. An interactive session on News Production and Anchoring held at IoBM

Karachi, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Syed Sibte Hassan Rizvi, an experienced broadcast journalist with HUM News, was invited to IoBM by the Media Studies Department on October 28, 2021. He delivered a talk to the students of “News Production and News Anchoring”. Syed Sibte Hassan Rizvi conducted interactive exercises on how to prepare and present television reports on-air. He shared the environment of a news studio and the challenges faced by reporters, producers, assignment editors, and anchors. His practical insights were useful for the students who aspire to enter the dynamic electronic media industry of Pakistan.

‫انٹرنیٹ ہیلتھ کیئر پر چین کا نیا ریگولیشن WeDoctor جیسے پلیٹ فارم کو فائدہ دے گا

ہانگ زو، چین، 30 اکتوبر، 2021/شنہوا-ایشیاء نیٹ/ — 27 اکتوبر کو، چین کے نیشنل ہیلتھ کمیشن (NHC)، جو کہ طبی صنعت کی ذمہ دار ہے، نے ایک نئی پالیسی جاری کی جس میں چین کی تیزی سے نمو پزیر انٹرنیٹ ہیلتھ کیئر انڈسٹری کے لئے ریگولیشن کا مطالبہ کیا گیا ہے۔ اس پالیسی سے چین کی انٹرنیٹ ہیلتھ کیئر انڈسٹری کو معیاری ترقی کے دور میں آگے بڑھانے کی توقع ہے۔

چین انٹرنیٹ ہیلتھ کیئر پلیٹ فارمز کو اس امر کی اجازت نہیں دیتا کہ وہ مشوروں کو نسخے کی تجویز کردہ ادویات کی فروخت کے لیے استعمال کریں۔ پالیسی تجویز کرتی ہے کہ متفقہ نسخے اور نسخوں کو دوبارہ پُر کرنے کی رجحان کی ممانعت ہے، صحت کی دیکھ بھال کرنے والے کارکنوں کی ذاتی آمدنی کو ادویات اور طبی معائنے سے حاصل ہونے والی آمدنی سے منسلک نہیں ہونا چاہیے، اور یہ کہ ڈاکٹروں کو ادویات اور استعمال کی اشیاء خریدنے کے لیے جگہوں کا تعین بالکل نہیں کرنا چاہیے۔

چین کے سب سے بڑے ڈیجیٹل میڈیکل سروس پلیٹ فارم WeDoctor کے بانی لیاؤ جی یوآن کا خیال ہے کہ اس پالیسی نے ایک واضح اشارہ دے دیا ہے کہ آن لائن طبی مشاورت اسی معیار کی ہونی چاہیے جو فزیکل اداروں کی طرف سے فراہم کی جاتی ہے، یہ ڈیجیٹل طبی خدمات کو فروغ دینے کے چین کے عزم کی عکاسی کرتی ہے، جو انٹرنیٹ ہیلتھ کیئر انڈسٹری کی معیاری ترقی اور مارکیٹ کے پھیلاؤ کے لیے ضروری ہے۔

China-SCO Local Economic Cooperation Demonstration Zone in Qingdao ushers in the first overseas investment fund

QINGDAO, China, Oct. 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — At the 2021 China-SCO Countries Financial Cooperation and Capital Market Development Forum that opened in Jiaozhou, Qingdao on Oct 28, the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Zone for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation, which is located in the Jiaozhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, ushered in the first overseas investment fund.

The fund is the first QDLP fund under Qingdao’s Qualified Domestic Limited Partnership (QDLP) scheme. QDLP is a pilot program developed by Chinese local authorities for the purpose of facilitating cross-border asset allocation. It allows global asset managers to raise Renminbi from investors in China to invest in overseas traditional and alternative assets such as hedge funds, private equity funds, and REITs. Qingdao has been assigned a quota of US$ 3 billion for piloting the QDLP scheme.

The China-SCO local economic cooperation demonstration zone will run the fund in collaboration with Sino-Russian Energy Investment Private Equity Fund Management (Qingdao) Co Ltd. At the forum, it also signed agreements with Kazakhstan’s Astana International Financial Centre, CICC Capital and other domestic and overseas capital management organizations to launch cooperation in promoting cross-border capital flows.

China’s New Regulation on Internet Healthcare will Benefit Platforms like WeDoctor

HANGZHOU, China, Oct. 29, 2021 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/ — On 27 October, China’s National Health Commission (NHC), the authority responsible for the medical industry, issued a new policy that calls for the regulation of China’s fast-growing Internet healthcare industry. The policy is expected to push China’s internet healthcare industry into the era of standardized development.

According to the NHC, as of June 2021, the number of Internet hospitals in China has exceeded 1,600, the Internet hospital is the provider of online medical services such as online consultations. The first Internet hospital in China was established in 2015 in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province by digital medical service platform WeDoctor.

This policy has generated widespread interest within the Chinese healthcare industry since its release. The regulatory policy on online medical consultation has been well received within the industry, with the release of the policy seen as beneficial to the development of the Internet healthcare industry, especially for some of large digital medical platforms that engage strictly online medical services.

The document, titled “Rules on the Regulation of Online Medical Consultation (Draft for Comments)”, states that physicians are required to authenticate their real identity before providing consultations to ensure that such online consultations are provided by the say doctor. Other people, AI software, etc. are not allowed to impersonate or replace the physicians themselves. As a result, some companies that focusing on using AI technology to provide consultation services may be negatively impacted.

China does not allow Internet healthcare platforms to use consultations as a tool for the sale of prescription drugs. The policy proposes that the occurrence of unified prescriptions and prescription refills is prohibited, that the personal income of healthcare workers must not be linked to income from drugs and medical examinations, and that doctors must not designate locations to purchase drugs and consumables.

Liao Jieyuan, founder of China’s largest digital medical service platform WeDoctor, believes that the policy has released a clear signal that online medical consultation should be of the same quality as that provided by physical institutions, reflecting China’s determination to develop digital medical services, which is essential for the standardized development and market expansion of the Internet healthcare industry.

China’s 1.4 billion people have a huge demand for healthcare services and physical hospitals are unable to meet this demand. Platforms such as WeDoctor have leverage technology to help alleviate the demand and supply imbalance in China’s healthcare industry.

According to a publicly released research report by CICC, with the regulatory policies for Internet healthcare becoming more transparent and standardized, companies providing actual medical services with a sound regulatory compliance system are expected to benefit the most.
