Higher Education Commission of Pakistan conducted Institutional Performance Evaluation of UET on 20, 21 and 22 October 2021 

Lahore, October 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has started an external Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE) of all higher educational institutions to improve their academic quality. IPE has a significant weightage in the yearly progress of universities. The scope of this evaluation includes, both academic as well non-academic performance of universities. In this connection, HEC has conducted IPE of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore on 20,21 and 22 Oct 2021. A review panel comprised of six senior academicians and professionals were appointed to review the performance of the university.

The panel was welcomed by Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Prof. Dr. Amer Aziz, Registrar UET Muhammad Asif and Deputy Director QEC Engr. Mureed Abbas. The activity started with recitation of Holy Quran. The meeting was chaired by Dean Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Mufti. Prof. Dr. Amer Aziz presented the progress of the university to the review panel. The evaluation continued for three days where different activities including interactive sessions with faculty, students and head of the non-teaching staff were carried out.

Furthermore, the review panel also visited the selected departments and library. An exit meeting chaired by respected Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar was held in VC Conference Room on Oct 22, 2021. In this meeting Convener of the Review Panel Prof. Dr. Riaz shared his findings and appreciated the efforts of UET to enhance the quality of education. Respected Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar shared his thoughts and acknowledged the efforts of the panel and QEC of UET. At the end, the souvenirs were distributed among the evaluators.

NUST signs Memorandum of Agreement with Scotmann Pharmaceuticals 

Islamabad, October 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):NUST Atta ur Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB) and Scotmann Pharmaceuticals, Inc signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at NUST, H-12 campus, Islamabad aiming to engage the applied biosciences students. Scotmann Pharma has extended its support for joint projects and research activities at NUST and offered to provide the students with internship opportunities as well.

This partnership is of great significance for the applied biosciences students allowing them to interact with a leading pharmaceutical industry of the country for guidance, mentorship, and hands-on experience in their relevant fields.

Prize Distribution Ceremony for Winners of Ashra Rehmatul Lil Alameen Competitions held 

Islamabad, October 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):A prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the competitions organized by the Dawah Center for Women of the International Islamic University (IIU) in connection with the celebrations of Ashra of Rehmatul lil Alameen (Peace be Upon Him) was held here at the female campus. The competitions included Husn e Qirat, Hifz ul Quran, Naat Khawni, Speech and Seerah Quiz.

Competition of Husn e Naat was won by Haleema Sadia of Ussuludin, Hafiza Aqsa of biological sciences stood 2nd and Kainat Saif got of Faculty of Usulludin got 3rd position. In the competition of Hifz ul Quran, Hafiza Syeda Khaula of Shariah and Law got first position. Hafiza Maira Farheen of Arabic got 2nd and Hafiza Zarwa Kainat of Shariah and Law got 3rd position.

In the speech competition Syeda Khaula of Shariah and Law stood 1st, Ayesha Yumna of Usulludin stood 2nd and Laiba Afzal of International Relations got 3rd position. In the Seerah Quiz Syeda Khaula, Bushra Maqbool won the 1st prize, while Mahnoor and Fatima Mushtaq stood end. The third position was gotten by Hafsa and her team. In Naat Khawni, Muneeba Asma of Department of Maths won the 1st prize, Mehr Amna of Education got second and Rafia Ilyas got 3rd position.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Executive Director, HEC Dr. Shaista Sohail, as Chief Guest. Vice President Academics, Professor Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President Female Campus, Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Director General Dawah Academy, Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Dr. Shagufta Umar, Incharge Dawah Centre, Dr. Faryal Ambreen, Students Adviser Dr. Summiya Chughtaie and other university officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shaista Sohail highlighted the importance of women in society. She said women must keep in mind about their role as builders of the nation. She said it’s a woman who manages the home and society through her hard work and abilities in a balanced way. She also emphasized on the female students to be dedicated towards learning Islamic values.
