Balochistan Governor lauds Alkhidmat’s relief activities for earthquake affectees

Lahore, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Governor of Balochistan province Zahoor Ahmad Agha appreciated Alkhidmat’s relief activities carried out in the wake of terrible earthquake that took place in Harnai district of the province. He said Alkhidmat Foundation is doing a good work aimed to provide relief to the effectees. The Governor expressed these views in a meeting with Alkhidmat delegation that called him at the Governor House. The delegation comprised of Assistant Secretary General Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Ijazullah Khan and President Alkhidmat Foundation Balochistan, Engineer Jamil Ahmad Kurd and other officials.

Lahore, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):To facilitate candidates [Late Result declaration by Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education] who could not apply for admission within due date (Sunday, October 17, 2021), the Virtual University of Pakistan has decided to extend the last date for Fall 2021 admissions till Wednesday, 27th October 2021 other than MSCS/Biological Sciences Merit-based programs.

This is the last chance for candidates to apply for Fall 2021 Admissions. No further extension shall be given after 27th October 2021. Classes will commence with effect from Monday, 1st November 2021.

57% of Pakistanis believe that the people themselves would be to blame should there be a potential increase in COVID-19 cases in the future: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan 

Islamabad, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 57% of Pakistanis believe that the people themselves would be to blame should there be a potential increase in COVID-19 cases in the future.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “Assuming a significant increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus over the next few weeks/months, who do you think will be most responsible for this?” In response to this question, 16% believed that the federal government would be responsible, 57% said they would hold themselves responsible, 5% believed that the provincial government would be responsible while 6% believed that the responsibility would lie with the healthcare system. 10% believed that no one would be responsible while 6% did not know or provided no response.

UVAS holds International Webinar on “Milk Components as Antimicrobial Agents Against Infections”

Lahore, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University of Khuzestan Iran organized an international webinar on “Milk Components as antimicrobial agents against infections” at Ravi Campus Pattoki.

Professor Dr Taherah Mohammadabadi was the speaker from Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University of Khuzestan, Iran. She delivered an informative lecture on the topic of “Milk components as antimicrobial agents against infections”.

She emphasizes the importance of milk components. She said milk contains various protective proteins and enzymes including lysozymes, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase which have antiviral, antibacterial and immunological properties. Immunoglobulins combat autoimmune diseases by strengthening the immune system and protecting the body against microbial and viral infections she added. Dr Muhammad Junaid and number of national and international professionals attended the webinar via video link.

Pakistan Army wins 24th National Baseball Championship

Lahore, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The 24th National Baseball Championship organized by Pakistan Federation Baseball which was held at Army Cricket Ground GHQ Rawalpindi was won by Pakistan Army. Army defeat Pakistan WAPDA in the final. Islamabad team won the third position.

According to Secretary General of Pakistan Federation Baseball Federation Sheikh Mazhar Ahmed, the Chief Guest of the final match was Brig. Ahmed Saeed, Director, Army Sports Directorate. President Pakistan Federation Baseball Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, Senior Vice President Muhammad Mohsin Khan, Muhammad Jamil Kamran Chairman Baseball Umpiring Association, Musaddiq Hanif Chairman Baseball Coaching Association and Tariq Nadeem Member at Large were present on the occasion. Other guests included President Punjab Baseball Association Dr Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi, Vice President Dr. Shaheen Gulraiz, Syed Manzar Shah Divisional Sports Officer Rawalpindi and many senior international baseball players were also present. Syed Fakhar Ali Shah welcomed the Chief Guest and other guests.

According to Sheikh Mazhar Ahmed, the final match of the championship was played between Pakistan Army and Pakistan WAPDA. Army defeated WAPDA 7-0. Arsalan Jamshed scored 2 runs for Pakistan Army while Faqir Hussain, Abdullah, Younis, Asad and Wasim Akram contributed one run each. Arsalan Jamshed and Faqir Hussain hit home runs for their team.

The bronze medal match which was played between the teams of Pakistan Police and Islamabad, Islamabad defeated the team of Police 3-0. From Islamabad, Muhammad Fayyaz, Muhammad Rehan and Aziz-ur-Rehman scored one run each to lead their team to victory.

Sheikh Mazhar Ahmed told that Syed Manzar Shah Divisional Sports Officer Rawalpindi awarded bronze medal to Islamabad team, Dr. Hamood Lakhvi President Punjab Baseball Association awarded silver medal to Pakistan WAPDA team, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah President Pakistan Federation Baseball awarded Gold Medal to Pakistan Army team, while the Chief Guest Brig. Ahmed Saeed awarded winning trophy to the Pakistan Army Team.

Talking at the end of the match, Chief Guest Brig. Ahmed Saeed, Director Army Sports Directorate appreciate the performance of both the teams. He hoped that these players will also show their talents in international baseball competitions and achieve success for the country.

According to Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, President PFB, Pakistan Baseball Team has qualified for the Asian Baseball Championship to be held in Taiwan in March 2022 and the 18th Asian Games to be held in China. In this regard, the federation will soon announce the training camp for the players selected from the National Baseball Championship.

IIU Rector, President felicitate Muslim World on 12 Rabiul Awwal 

Islamabad, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):Rector and President of International Islamic University have felicitated the nation and Muslim World on the occasion of 12 Rabiul Awwal. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIU and Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President IIUI in a felicitation message have said that educational institutions must disseminate the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH). They urged the students to follow the message of Prime Minister Imran Khan who has urged the nation to celebrate 12 Rabiul Awwal in befitting and unprecedented manner.

They said it is the responsibility of academia to create awareness regarding the glorious attributes of the great personality of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). IIU leadership has said holy life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) must be a role model of every Youngman and he must keep taking guidance regarding solution to all problems in the light of Prophet’s teachings. They said there is a dire need of time that we adopt the way of life that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has shown us.
