Lahore, The Virtual University of Pakistan’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar Campus, Karachi, in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club, has taken significant steps towards promoting environmental sustainability. A series of events, including an awareness walk, a beach cleanup, and an educational visit to a wastewater treatment plant, were organized to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among students and staff.
According to Virtual University of Pakistan, the initiatives aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and promoting sustainable practices. The awareness walk through Gulistan-e-Jauhar featured participants carrying placards, symbolizing their commitment to eco-friendly practices. The event highlighted the university community’s collective endeavor to contribute to environmental protection.
Additionally, the beach cleaning drive saw enthusiastic participation from Virtual University volunteers, addressing the pressing issue of plastic pollution along the coastline. This effort underscored the importance of maintaining clean marine ecosystems for future generations.
The collaboration also included a visit to the Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Karachi, where participants gained firsthand knowledge about the treatment of industrial wastewater.
