Vice Chancellor Stresses Importance of Education and Co-Curricular Activities at SMIU Model School Prize Distribution Ceremony

Karachi, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), emphasized the significance of education and co-curricular activities for students in Karachi during the prize distribution ceremony organized by the SMIU Model School. The event took place at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium of the university on Thursday.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Dr. Sahrai addressed the audience, noting that students in Karachi have more educational opportunities compared to those in other cities and remote areas. He encouraged them to take advantage of these opportunities to secure a bright future. He highlighted that students in Karachi are fortunate to have access to quality education, modern facilities, and various healthy activities, which may not be readily available in cities like Larkana, Sukkur, Umerkot, Bhirya, Khuzdar, Qalat, and Gilgit.

Dr. Sahrai reflected on his education at D.J. College and shared how the culture of Karachi contributed to his success. He also mentioned that SMIU Model School students should feel proud as they are attending the same institution that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah once attended. He noted that while his own school days in Dadu city were filled with motivation and dynamic activities, today’s students seem less equipped with such experiences despite being a part of the 21st century generation.

Dr. Sahrai urged teachers and management of SMIU Model School to provide more opportunities for students to engage in co-curricular activities, emphasizing that these activities are crucial for student growth and development. He encouraged teachers to give equal importance to both curricular and co-curricular activities.

During the ceremony, Dr. Sahrai presented medals and certificates to students who excelled in various competitions held in the city. He also presented a shield to Ms. Nabeela Kanwal, Principal of SMIU Model School, who in turn gave him a souvenir. The event was attended by the Registrar of SMIU, Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Shaikh, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Zahid Ali Channar, along with teachers and students from the SMIU Model School.
