Lahore, September 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) for collaboration in capacity-building activities for the leadership, senior management, staff, faculty members and students of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Punjab and PHEC.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad (SI) and Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Prof Dr Shahid Munir signed the MoU in a ceremony held at City Campus on Monday.

Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Chief Operating Officer (PHEC) Mansoor Ahmed Baloch, Director Training (PHEC) Dr Asif Munir, Director Veterinary Academy Dr Muhammad Asif Awan and UVAS senior faculty members and officials from (PHEC) attended ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Shahid Munir said that it is direly needed to impart modern teaching techniques and methodologies to teachers in the modern era. He said this collaboration would be very beneficial for UVAS and PHEC especially for sharing their knowledge and experiences with each other. He praised UVAS leadership for taking new initiatives for the promotion of education and for the benefit for poor farming community even in worst flood of 2022 in Pakistan. Dr Asif Munir spoke about the objectives of the MoU and initiatives of PHEC.

Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed thanked PHEC to choose UVAS for conducting different trainings for the capacity

Building of in-service teachers and administration staff. He said many public sector departments including Livestock Department conducted successfully many promotional training in UVAS veterinary academy. He said progress of UVAS is the result of collective efforts.

Under the MoU, UVAS will provide training classrooms, meeting/seminar rooms, auditorium, hostel rooms and allied services at its Veterinary Academy.
