Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore organized an acknowledgment ceremony for the Taleem Mumkin Scholarship Programme, saluting the Qasim Ali Shah Foundation (QASF) for its financial assistance. The foundation has provided scholarships to UVAS students from various degree programs.
According to a news release by University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), the ceremony saw the presence of esteemed guests, including Chairman of Sabir’s Group, Dr. F.M Sabir, who served as the chief guest. Others in attendance comprised UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad, Chairman QASF Mr. Qasim Ali Shah, Retired Prof Dr. Ather Mahmood, and a host of faculty members, scholarship winners, and UVAS officials.
In his address, Dr. F.M Sabir emphasized the value of hard work in achieving a promising future. He encouraged attendees to contribute actively to the nation’s growth and assist students, notably orphans, who struggle with educational expenses. Sabir further inspired students to chase even the most challenging goals by leveraging their knowledge and competencies. He also motivated students to consider entrepreneurship over traditional employment.
Mr. Qasim Ali Shah reiterated the importance of assisting those dedicated to the nation’s welfare and progress, especially in the context of their religious obligations as Muslims. He expressed confidence in UVAS students, asserting that with proper support, they could make Pakistan proud both domestically and globally. Shah also commended the continuous efforts of Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha and Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmed in molding the future generation by producing well-educated graduates each year.
Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmed shed light on UVAS’s achievements, revealing that the university distributed 1,359 scholarships the previous year, amounting to over Rs.103 million. Notably, out of eight thousand UVAS students, every sixth student secures a scholarship after meeting the necessary criteria. Dr. Ahmed expressed his gratitude to QASF for bestowing scholarships worth over Rs. 10 million annually to 126 UVAS students based on merit. He concluded by advising students to hone their soft skills to secure positions in renowned firms and eventually give back to benefactors like QASF and their families.
