University of Poonch Vice Chancellor Advocates for Skill-Based Education to Curb Youth Migration

Rawalkot: In a recent discussion with World Times magazine, Professor Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Zakir, Vice Chancellor of the University of Poonch, emphasized the importance of skill-based education to prevent the illegal migration of young people. He advocated for higher education institutions to enhance professional training, which he believes can significantly reduce the need for young individuals to seek opportunities abroad through perilous means.

According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, Dr. Zakir highlighted the global demand for skilled professionals and the role of educational institutions in meeting this need. He noted that “Graduation Councils” and accreditation bodies should take active roles in promoting professional education that aligns with international standards, thereby opening up better employment opportunities within Pakistan. Dr. Zakir expressed concerns over the risky journeys young people undertake, risking both financial security and their lives, to migrate illegally. He pointed out that skilled individuals are less likely to take such risks if they receive proper training and recognition in their home country.

Moreover, Dr. Zakir criticized the current accreditation councils for their slow pace in endorsing essential training programs. He argued that without immediate action to improve educational frameworks, The country could face continuous loss and tragedy. The Vice Chancellor called for a dynamic shift towards education that not only equips the youth with necessary skills but also integrates them into the economic structure of Pakistan, thus preventing the drain of talent and resources.
