Haripur, The University of Haripur’s Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), recently held a seminar titled “Say No to Drugs: Drug Abuse Prevention Among Youth,” marking a significant step towards raising awareness about drug abuse among young people.
According to The University of Haripur, the seminar brought together notable personalities from both the university and the ANF. The Deputy Director (DDR) of ANF, Malik Wajid Yousuf, was the distinguished speaker, accompanied by other esteemed ANF officials. From the University of Haripur, key figures included Prof. Dr. Abid Farid, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Head of the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Ijaz Shah, Chief Proctor. The event attracted a large audience comprising faculty, administrative staff, and students.
Malik Wajid Yousuf delivered an insightful presentation on drug addiction and prevention strategies, appreciating the university’s efforts in educating students on this crucial issue. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Abid Farid spoke about the root causes of drug abuse, contributing to the seminar’s depth of discussion.
Dr. Muhammad Rizwan emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in combating drug abuse, quoting, “Protecting one person from drug abuse is synonymous with safeguarding the entire nation.” He also encouraged the dissemination of awareness about drugs as a means to light the way toward a drug-free society.
In recognition of active participation, Malik Wajid Yousuf awarded certificates to outstanding students. Mr. Muhammad Iqbal, Director of Administration, and Dr. M. Rizwan were also acknowledged for their roles in organizing the seminar. Additionally, Dr. Abid Farid presented a commemorative souvenir to Deputy Director Malik Wajid Yousuf.
The seminar concluded with a “Say No to Drugs” walk within the university, symbolizing a united commitment to a drug-free Pakistan. This collaboration between the University of Haripur and ANF KPK highlights a collective approach to addressing the issue of drug abuse, particularly among the youth.
