CHITRAL, Aiming to delve deep into the facets of peace education in a region with unique challenges, the University of Chitral recently concluded its Two-Day Workshop titled ‘Teaching and Talking of Peace in the Vulnerable Region of Pakistan’, overseen by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC).
According to a news release by the University of Chitral, the event was steered under the guidance of Dr. Muhammad Romman, the Additional Director of ORIC. The workshop was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by dignitaries, including Dr. Sahib Khan, The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chitral, and Dr. Atta ur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malakand. Dr. Itbar Khan, a Hubert Humphrey Fellow and the principal organizer, was instrumental in organizing and ensuring the smooth flow of the workshop, creating an environment conducive to collaboration and mutual learning.
During his address, Dr. Sahib Khan underscored the importance of propagating peace messages, equipping educators with the tools to impart peace teachings, and fostering a mindset in students to evolve as peace ambassadors.
This impactful workshop was made feasible due to the benevolent funding from the U.S. Government. The initiative was carried out by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in conjunction with the United States Educational Foundation (USEF), Pakistan, underscoring their unwavering dedication to bolstering education and championing peace in regions beset with challenges.
To honour the success of the workshop, the University of Chitral extended its heartfelt appreciation to all attendees, eminent speakers, and sponsors. The event wrapped up with a certificate distribution ceremony followed by a group photograph. With this successful endeavour behind them, the university remains steadfast in its commitment to further such constructive discussions and join hands for sculpting a harmonious tomorrow.
