UET Lahore Hosts Workshop on Outcome Based Education for Engineering AccreditationMUET Offers Research Assistant Position in Textile Engineering with a Focus on Antimicrobial Devices

Lahore, The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, in collaboration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), recently concluded a comprehensive four-day training workshop on Outcome Based Education and Assessment System (OBE/OBA) in accordance with the PEC Accreditation Manual 2019. The workshop, aimed at Program Evaluators (PEVs), witnessed the participation of 35 senior academicians from across Punjab, focusing on enhancing the quality of engineering education through effective assessment and accreditation processes.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the event featured Dr. Saeed ur Rehman, Dr. Baber Saeed, and Dr. Hassan Mahmood Khan as resource persons, providing invaluable insights into the implementation of OBE/OBA systems. Prof. Dr. Naveed Ramzan, a member of the PEC governing body, served as the Chief Organizer, with Mr. Wasif Bhatti from PEC’s Regional Office Lahore and Mr. Akram Jamal from PEC’s Regional Office Islamabad playing pivotal roles in the workshop’s execution.

The training included interactive exercises on Self-Assessment Reports, Program Evaluation Sheets, group discussions, and a mock visit to three engineering departments, designed to simulate real-world accreditation evaluations. The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat, Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, and Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shakir, a member of the AMRC PEC, along with deans and chairmen of various engineering departments.

Dr. Nasir Hayat lauded the efforts of the organizing team and the PEC for conducting the workshop, emphasizing the critical role of the evaluation process in elevating the standards of engineering education. The initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring that engineering programs at UET Lahore and throughout Punjab meet the highest educational and professional standards, ultimately benefiting students and the engineering profession as a whole.

Jamshoro, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) has announced an opening for a Graduate Research Assistant position within the Department of Textile Engineering. This opportunity is tied to a high-profile project funded by the HEC’s National Research Program for Universities (NRPU), focusing on the development of antimicrobial polypropylene hernia mesh devices.

According to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the project titled “Development of Antimicrobial Polypropylene Hernia Mesh Devices for Hernia Repair,” requires a candidate who is enrolled full-time in ME/MS programs in Textile, Biomedical, or a related environment at MUET. The selected research assistant will be engaged in this innovative project for an initial duration of five months, with the possibility of extending up to twenty-four months, and will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 20000.
