The First National Camping Festival held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur 

Bahawalpur, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The First National Camping Festival was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Cross Route Club, IUB DOST and Tourism Department Punjab. The purpose of this program was to promote winter tourism in South Punjab especially in Bahawalpur.

The way people turn to the northern regions areas in summer. Due to the relatively good weather from November to March, the palaces and mansions of Bahawalpur, the forts of Rohi, the forests of Lal Sonhara, the shrines and mosques of Uch Sharif, the monuments of Hakra civilization and its beautiful culture provide ample opportunities for winter tourism.

On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, said that thanks to the special guidance of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the measures taken by the present government to promote tourism in Pakistan. Not only the academic department was established but also a directorate was set up.

He said that South Punjab is the center of the Solomon Mountains and the vast desert of Cholistan and is very suitable for winter tourism. Mukarram Khan Tareen of Cross Route Club said that the 32 forts in Cholistan and the desert safari Cholistani area are very suitable for tourism. He also extended special thanks to Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob for organizing the National Camping Festival.

On this occasion, Salman Qureshi Director IUB DOST informed about the steps taken for the promotion of long-term tourism in this region. Zubair Ahmed Siddiqui, Senior Anchor of PTV said that Bahawalpur is a wonderful city and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has hosted a wonderful camping festival.

Obaid ullah, a well-known journalist and writer, said that tourism in the northern regions ends in the month of December. Mid-country tourism Bahawalpur can be the best center. The host of the program, Dr. Imran Rashid, thanked the local and foreign delegates for participating in the National Camping Festival. More than 150 motorbikes from across the country participated in the two-day festival.

In addition to Camp Night at Baghdad Al Jadeed Campus, TDCP double tracker bus toured the historical sites of Bahawalpur including Baghdad ul Jadeed Railway Station, Central Library, Museum, Victoria Hospital, Chowk Fawara, Noor Mahal, ancient gates of Bahawalpur and Fort Derawar.
