Lahore, The Early Years Consortium 2024, organized by The City School Northern Region, was successfully held on February 24th in Islamabad. The event convened educators and thought leaders to discuss the transformative impact of play-based learning in early childhood education. The consortium provided a forum for sharing innovative strategies and research findings, underscoring the formative influence of educational environments on young learners.
According to The City School, the Regional Director North, Ms. Sabahat Khan Tatari, emphasized the formative influence of learning environments on developing multiple intelligences in children. The conference featured Dr. Shelina Bhamani of Aga Khan University (AKU) as the keynote speaker, who highlighted the indispensable role of play in early childhood development.
The event also presented strategies for fostering imagination and critical thinking in young learners, with notable contributions from Mr. Khalid Anum on using theatre to build empathy and creativity, and Dr. Anzar Khaliq on applying design thinking principles in the classroom.
The Early Years Consortium attracted a diverse group of participants, including teachers, parents, and researchers, who shared a dedication to elevating the standard of foundational education.
