IHHN becomes the first paperless Hospital in Pakistan to use encoding patient data at its Korangi Campus

Karachi, February 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) is pleased to announce that it has upgraded its paperless system to include outpatient coding for its physicians and other medical professionals. Over 70,000 coded diagnoses have been entered into the system and will ensure that the diagnoses will be recorded with the highest degree of specificity. The electronic medical records entered into the system will strictly follow the International Classification of Disease’s guidelines.

Encoding patient data is one of the biggest challenges for health networks and hospitals that operate a paperless system network. Common diagnoses of each facility have been incorporated in the coding module for faculty to select each specific diagnosis from the provided list easily.

It is a tremendous help to ensure efficient time management with the system being updated periodically to ensure it is compatible with ICD revisions. The Electronic Medical Records team trains the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff regularly to comply with the international coding guideline.

The implementation of the system has been a milestone achievement and helps Indus maintain its international standard of quality of services. Its success in the Korangi campus is only the first step, with plans already on the way to replicate the service throughout the multiple hospital and facilities within the Indus Hospital and Health Network.

Spreading colours of joy to the life of our patients

Karachi, January 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):In collaboration with Nelson Paints, the Psychosocial Team of the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) transformed the Day care Room of the Korangi Campus’ Pediatric Complex with its bright colours. Pediatric Oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy spend the day in the Day care. Cancer treatment is draining and more so for children, which is why the hospital environment becomes overwhelming for them.

The Psychosocial Team arranged a painting activity to make the Day care more colourful to deal with this. The “under the sea” theme was chosen after the children voted for it. With the help of volunteers, a 10-hour long activity took place on December 19, 2021, to paint the room. The volunteers also hung hand-painted sea creatures on the ceiling.

The next day when the patients arrived at the Day care Room, their reaction was heart-warming. They were shocked, happy, excited, and awe of the whole transformation. The children said they felt as if they were in real under the sea.

Nelson Paints has been a steadfast supporter of IHHN. Over the years, Nelson Paints have collaborated with Indus on various projects. Mr. Siraj Uddin, Managing Director, Nelson Paints is one of Indus Hospital and Health Network’s Corporate Ambassador. He was part of first cohort of IHHN Corporate Ambassador Program.
