According to Ch. Khizar Hayat, Senior Manager PTCL, “An enticing programme for learning, it was a very useful and up-to-date learning experience.”

The programme modules were designed to facilitate interactive learning through deliberation on real-world business situations, allowing the participants to deal with complex problems and explore prospective solutions in a collaborative learning environment. Syed Athar Shah, Senior Manager PTCL, said the programme was “practical, concise and to the point. It was helpful in not only our professional but personal lives as well.” The FueL Leadership Academy is a first of its kind modular programme which comprised a mix of online live and on-campus components that engaged the executives from PTCL in an extended learning journey.

Lahore, June 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Dr. Mohsin Bashir, Associate Professor, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), LUMS has been appointed by the Governor of Punjab as a member of the Academic Council for Punjab Tianjin University of Technology (PTUT). LUMS is the only private sector university to be represented on the council.

Established under an Act of the Punjab Assembly, entitled Punjab Tianjin University of Technology Act 2018, PTUT is the first technology university of Pakistan and has been formed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a joint venture between the government of Punjab and three Chinese universities. The Academic Council leads the standards of instruction, research, publications and examinations of the University. It is made up of university officials, provincial government officials and five external academics appointed directly by the Governor of Punjab.

Dr. Bashir’s name was recommended to the Governor by the PTUT’s Vice Chancellor. He was selected due to his publications and consultancy in the area of Punjab government’s provision of technical and vocational education and training (TVET). Additionally, Dr. Bashir has a concrete track record of developing new courses and programmes at LUMS and his recent work involving curriculum review at the Civil Services Academy Lahore was also a plus.

Commenting on the role LUMS played in his appointment to the council, Dr. Bashir says, “The Vice Chancellor became familiar with my work on public administration and technical and vocational education after being led to it by LUMS alumni. The entire body of work that made my case was produced in my capacity as a faculty member at the University and through the academic freedom and research facilitation provided by SDSB and LUMS.”

Dr. Bashir feels that “LUMS faculty and staff can make a lot of impactful contributions if they reach out and collaborate with public sector educational institutions. The synergies in terms of mutual learning and knowledge creation are limitless.” We wish Dr. Bashir the best of luck in his endeavours.
