The Worthy Vice Chancellor KIU attended 9th meeting of National Technology Council at HEC Islamabad which was chaired by Chair NTC Engr. Imtiaz Gilani

Gilgit, August 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Worthy Vice Chancellor KIU attended 9th meeting of National Technology Council (NTC) at HEC Islamabad which was chaired by Chair NTC Engr. Imtiaz Gilani. In the inaugural speech, the newly appointed Chair HEC welcome the members and appreciated their role in streamlining the Technology Education and practice. He emphasized over the importance of both streams of Engineers and Technology for the national development. Later important agenda points were discussed.

Vice Chancellor KIU shared with the council that KIU is endeavouring to promote Engineering and Tech education in GB . In this context Faculty of Engineering and Technology is being established at the cost of Rs. 1300 Million where State of the Art infrastructure and Labs are being setup. Currently Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering Tech. KIU has also planned to initiate BS Elec Engineering Tech Program with focus on Renewable and Hydropower Engineering.

Doctoral Defense of Three PhD Scholars Karakoram International University

Gilgit, July 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):Three PhD scholars (Mr. Muhammad Raza, Department of Physics, Ms. Ishra Roomi, Department of Forestry Wildlife and Rangeland Management, Mr. Maqsood Hussain, Department of Agriculture and Food Technology) are going to defend their Doctoral Research on July 6, 2022 at 2:30 PM at KIU Liaison office Islamabad.

Young Filmmakers from KIU win Patakha Picture Award

Gilgit, July 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):Two students named Sehrish Kanwal and Seema Iqbal from Media and Communication KIU win the first-ever funding and mentorship grand of Patakha pictures – a project of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Films named as Pakistan stories in collaboration with the British Council Pakistan and The Scottish Doc Institute. The aim of the project was to showcase the various Pakistani Stories.

The documentaries produced by these two young filmmakers were screened by director SDI Noe Mendelle who introduced each if these films produced by each pair of filmmakers in the presence of the famous filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and other dignitaries. This project is aimed at producing and supporting young female Pakistani filmmakers who could showcase Pakistani voices across the globe reflecting Pakistan’s 75 years of independence.

The Spring Tree planting 2022 Initiatives

Gilgit, May 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):We are an eye witness to Digital Media and Modern Society era. It greatly benefits when a combined message of forestry and wildlife extension is delivered to the local community by graduating students who opt for forestry and wildlife management as their future profession.

The role of a Forestry and Wildlife Extension Specialist is to help people to widen their knowledge and experience beyond the immediate range of their crops and animals, to understand more fully how trees or forests fit into the pattern of their lives and how they can derive benefits. In BS-VIII, students of the Department of Forestry, Range and Wildlife Management are divided into workable groups of five to six to have an experience of tree planting event in Forestry and Wildlife Extension course.

They are guided and monitored from 1. Making groups and selecting members among colleagues, 2. Selecting the planting site of their choice and subsequent visits to planting area 3. Contacting the responsible person / authority for involving in planting activity, 4. Specifying date for Spring planting, 5. Taking Department as facilitation and help in the event, 6. Inviting Head of the Department, Faculty members, Teachers of Allied disciplines, other department students etc, 7. Arranging for Planting Stock to the target area, 8. Selection of Audio-visual Aids and its use with logical reasoning, 9. Documentation of Format / Structure of community / target audience, to 10. Event Celebration Recording. Each group is given ample time to make the Spring Tree planting 2022 a memorable and successful event by involving the local community.

Through this activity, all the students learn to make a brief talk on forestry and wildlife extension to an unfamiliar and potential target group and strive to develop good Communicator abilities. It is expected that conduction of such initiatives can and would promote their professional services in future. The 1st Ever MS Thesis Defense (Batch-1) Session 2019-2021

Gilgit, April 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 1st ever MS thesis defense (Batch-1) session 2019-2021 conducted today dated 25 April, 2022. Four students of this first batch successfully defended their MS final thesis under supervision of Internal Supervisors and co-supervisors namely Dr. Ifzal Ahmed, Associate Professor, Dr. Sajjad Haider, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ammar Hussain, Lecturer) and the external Examiners (Dr. Muhammad Abbas Associate professor FAST and Dr. Wajid Khan Assistant Professor University of Baltistan).

The panel members were Dr. Taswar Rahim Baig, Associate Dean, Dr. Zaigham Ali, Head of Department Business Management and faculty members of Business Management Department.

MS Scholars who defended their thesis are:

1- Ghafar Khan (Thesis Title: Factors Influencing the organizational loyalty of employees at Non-Governmental Organization in GB)

2- Usman Ali (Thesis Title: factors that led to de-affiliation of Government schools and colleges from KIU Examination section – A case study)

3- Ali Naz (Thesis Title: Sustainable Work motivation, a study of private and Government educational institutions in Gilgit Division.)

4- Muhammad Nabi Ullah (Thesis Title: Green HRM Practices and its impact on employees’ retention.)

Outcome Based Education Session
