Pharma Spark Society Held Bilingual Essay and Debate Competition

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):The event was hosted by Nooran-ul-ain and Arshi Noor from 6th semester, faculty of Pharmacy. It started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Mehmood Moin-ul-Haq from 8th semester. Welcome notes and significance of the event was presented, followed by introduction to the jury panel that consisted of Mr. Mateen Abbas, Mr. Mohammad Nauman and Ms. Asma Qandeel. Before commencement of the contest, all the participants were enlightened with the rules and regulations, both for the essay and debate competitions. Essay participants were provided with the sheets and a time limit of 60 minutes. On the other side, the hall was echoing with the astounding words of the debate participants. While the judges were compiling the results, the participants were entertained with the illuminating video on Women Empowerment.

All the judges were invited to present their humble views while the result was announced by Mr. Mateen abbas. M. Mohtashim from batch 213 stood 1st in the debate competition, while, Muneeba Sehar from batch 203 won 1st position in essay writing contest. Both were presented with the shields and certificates. 2nd and 3rd position holders of both the essay and debate competitions were also given respective certificates. In the end, efforts of all the participants were acknowledge and gratitude was presented to judges for sharing their time and expertise.

Pharma Spark Society Organized Rashan Drive

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Ramazan Drive initiated on Thursday 16th March 2023; all collectors played an amazing role in collection of funds. Funds collected were reported directly to Coordinators which were then compiled and recorded. The donation of all the batches was compiled and collected by Lead Coordinator. On Tuesday 21st March 2023, a total of Rs.130, 000/- was collected. 15 Packages; each package worth more than Rs 8000/- were bought.

The Ration Distribution Process started on Wednesday, 22nd March at 3:30 pm. The respected Faculty members; Mr. Muhammad Tariq Khan, Madam Nitasha Gohar, Madam Nadia Shamshad Malik and Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Mr. Muzaffar Abbas were also present on this occasion along with Lead Coordinators. The Ration was then successfully distributed and the smiles on the faces of the needy and deserving people were totally worth it.

Pharma Spark Society Held Awareness Seminar on Treatment and Awareness of Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Seminar initiated at 2:20 pm, starting with the Name of Allah, Mr. Zohaib recited a few verses of the Holy Quran. On this occasion, Respected Faculty Members, Madam Nitasha Gohar, Madam Nadia Shamshad Malik, Mr. Mahboob Alam, Mr Asif Safdar, Mr. Farhan, and the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr Muzaffar Abbas were present. After Recitation of the Holy Quran, Mr Muhammad Yasir Khan (Chairman of Strive Trust) was invited to speak a few sacred words and enlighten our minds with some interesting world knowledge.

Then, Mr. Muzaffar Abbas was invited who thank Mr. Muhammad Yasir and everyone including all the students, Faculty Members, Volunteers from Strive Trust, and Mr. Muhammad Yasir Khan. Dr. Muzaffar Abbas also presented Shield to Mr. Muhammad Yasir Khan acknowledging his efforts and volunteers of Strive Trust.

Third Plenary Meeting, NUST and CUST on “Erasmus Plus Digi Health” Project Held by Office of External Linkages and Internal Collaborations at Capital University

Islamabad, March 24, 2023 (PPI-OT): Under the Erasmus Plus DigiHealth Project, a hybrid meeting was planned from 6 to 9 March 2023 at NUST and CUST jointly. The teams of University of Gent, Belgium, University of Lyon, France and University of Mangolia participated remotely. Whereas the teams of University of Northumbria, UK, University of Huddersfield, UK, Chiang Mai University, Thailand, Chaing Rai University, Thailand, attended the meeting at NUST and CUST.

The project meeting was held in B block workshop room on 8th March and M block conference room on 9th March. After the project meeting, foreign delegates were taken to a comprehensive tour of the campus. The guests were impressed with the modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment that is available to students in labs. The foreign guests left with a positive impression of the university. We believe that this visit has further strengthened our relationship and will lead to future collaborations and exchange programs.

Faculty of Pharmacy Held 2023 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Islamabad, March 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): The International Conference on Emerging Trends in Pharmaceutical Sciences (ICETPS 23) was organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy (FoP), Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST). The conference was held on March 11th, 2023, in Islamabad, Pakistan and aimed to bring together researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to discuss the latest advancements and future prospects in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

The conference was inaugurated by the Co-Patron of Conference, Vice Chancellor, CUST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed, who welcomed the attendees. The chief guest for the conference was Dr. Uzair Nagra, Chairman of Nagra Group, CEO of Medi search Pharma, Revco Pharma, Centrico Pharma, My Pharmacy, Covance Pharma Solutions Pakistan, Cura Pharma, Axial Technologies and Horizon Optimization.

The keynote speaker of the conference was Prof. Dr. Nadeem Irfan Bukhari, Dean, University College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore. The General Chair, of the conference was Dean FoP, Dr. Muzaffar Abbas. The Organizing Chair was Dr. Nadia Shamshad Malik whereas Program Chair was Dr. Mahboob Alam.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Bukhari talk was focused on the “Making More Sense in Post Market Pharmaceutical Research and Data “. He shared his insights how the artificial intelligence can transform the pharmaceutical industry by enabling researchers to analyze vast amounts of data and optimize drug development processes.

The conference included several technical sessions covering various aspects of pharmaceutical sciences including drug discovery and development, pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical technology. Several oral and poster presentations were also made by participants from various universities, hospitals, industry and research institutions.

The presentations covered a wide range of topics and participants had the privilege of hearing from leading experts in the field. The sessions were chaired by renowned researchers and experts from various universities including Dr. Nasir Abbas, Dr. Amjad Hussain, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Nasiri and Dr. Khalid Rauf.

Three international speakers including Dr. Hidayat Hussain, Dr. Aziz Ullah and Dr. Arshad Mahmood participated from Germany, Korea and UAE. Dr. Omar Akhlaq Bhutta, Associate Director and Head Pharmacy, participated from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Lahore and Dr. Salwa Ahsan, Chief of Pharmacy, participated from Shifa International Hospital Islamabad.

The conference was well-attended by more than 250 participants from academia, industry, drug regulatory authority (DRAP), drug testing laboratory (DTL) and research institutions.

In the closing session, General Chair, Dean FoP, Dr. Muzaffar Abbas emphasized the importance of conference for continued research and development in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. He thanked keynote speaker, Dr. Nadeem Irfan Bukhari, Chief guest, Dr. Uzair Nagra and speakers of oral talk and poster presenters for their valuable time.

He appreciated Organizing Chair (Dr. Nadia Shamshad Malik), Program Chair (Dr. Mahboob Alam), Review Committee Head (Dr. Muhammad Tariq khan), Publication Committee Head (Mr. Muhammad Yasir), Publicity Committee Head (Mr. Mateen Abbas), Registration Committee Head (Mr. Asif Safdar), all Faculty members FoP, CUST and students FoP, CUST for their efforts in making the conference a true success.

Dr. Abbas highly appreciated efforts of Mr. M. Ubaid Ur Rehman for providing technical support and assistance in organizing conference. He also extended his sincere gratitude to all attendees for participating in ICETPS 23 and for their overwhelming response.
