Bahawalpur, The Department of Urdu at Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) hosted a distinguished seminar centered on exploring the contemporary implications of “Kalam-i-Iqbal,” shedding light on the relevance of Allama Iqbal’s poetry in today’s context.
According to a news release by The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Dr. Syed Aamir Sohail, Chairman of the Urdu Department, presided over the event. The seminar had the honour of featuring Dr. Taqi Abidi, a renowned researcher, critic, and intellectual hailing from Canada, as its keynote speaker. In his address, Dr. Abidi delved deep into the present-day significance of Kalam-e-Iqbal, underscoring the equivalence of “Baqayat-i-Iqbal” to the celebrated verses of Iqbal in understanding the poet’s vision. Throughout his discourse, Dr. Abidi illustrated his points by quoting various verses and poems, attesting to Iqbal’s academic prowess and his vital role in Iqbal studies.
Furthermore, Dr. Wasif Iqbal Siddiqui was responsible for overseeing the seminar’s proceedings. He also took the opportunity to elaborate on the significant literary contributions made by Dr. Taqi Abidi.
