Karachi, Lahore Qalandars’ player Sikandar Raza has incurred a fine for dissent during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match, penalized for his visible disagreement with an umpire’s decision. The incident, which took place during a game against Quetta Gladiators, resulted in a 10% deduction from Raza’s match fee.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the breach occurred at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, where Raza expressed dissatisfaction on three separate instances over umpiring calls by gesturing and showing dissent, actions deemed contrary to the PSL’s code of conduct. Specifically, Raza’s behavior violated article 2.8 of the code, which prohibits players from publicly questioning an umpire’s decision during a match.
The charge against Raza was brought by on-field umpires Chris Gaffaney and Rashid Riaz, with match referee Ali Naqvi determining the sanction. The fine underscores the league’s commitment to maintaining respect for officials and the integrity of the game.
