Senator Waqar Mehdi Accuses MQM of Attempting to Rig Karachi Elections

Karachi – Senator Waqar Mehdi, the General Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh, has accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of seeking to manipulate the upcoming general elections in Karachi. He asserts that the MQM desires to rig the elections to gain undue advantage, a move he believes the citizens of Karachi will firmly oppose.

According to statement from the Pakistan People’s Party, Senator Mehdi claimed that the MQM’s alleged intention to rig the elections stems from its fear of defeat. He accused the party of preparing to evade the elections to avoid the embarrassment of a potential loss. Additionally, Mehdi alleged that Bashir Memon, a former government official, has been involved in electoral malpractices in favor of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in regions like Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The statement further included Mehdi’s remarks on the collective stance of the people of Sindh against parties like MQM, Functional League, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA). He suggested that these parties are metaphorically confined to a single coffin, with the people set to deliver the final blow in the upcoming elections on February 8.

Senator Mehdi also commented on Dr. Safdar Abbasi, suggesting that Abbasi is facing difficulties in the elections due to the anticipated defeat, viewing this as a fitting consequence for his political stance.
