Rawalpindi: The Martyrdom Day of Sayyed Al-Sajdeen Hazrat Imam Zainul Abideen (AS) was observed with devotion and respect in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, marking the conclusion of the International Decade of Karbala. The day dedicated to the fourth Shia Imam, known for his piety and the Sahifa Sajjadiya, saw various religious activities aimed at promoting the values he stood for.
According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the day’s events began with the recitation of the Holy Quran in mosques following the Fajr prayer. Religious scholars highlighted the life and teachings of Imam Zainul Abideen, emphasizing his role in continuing the message of Prophethood and Wilayat, and his efforts in uplifting the Islamic world. The commemorations also included sermons on global issues, including condemnation of colonial atrocities and expressions of solidarity with the oppressed.
In Islamabad, the main event was held at the Jamia Al-Murtaza, organized by various religious and community groups including Umm al-Binin, WAF, Sakina Generation, and the Association of Daughters of Islam. Dr. Farzana Naqvi delivered the main sermon at 10 am. The culmination of these gatherings featured a symbolic coffin procession, signifying mourning and respect for the Imam.
In Rawalpindi, the principal procession took place from the residence of the late Anis Zaidi in Boharbazar, concluding with a majlis at the Imambargah Zainul Abedin in Satellite Town. The event wrapped up with another coffin procession to Karbala, symbolizing the conclusion of the martyrdom observances.
Dr. MD Haidari, convener of the International Tenth Anniversary of Karbala Committee, spoke about the significant impact of Imam Zainul Abideen’s teachings on truth, religion, and law. He reaffirmed the community’s commitment to continue advocating for the values Imam Zainul Abideen championed, including the elevation of the Islamic world and the progress of their country.
