Lahore: After a nine-year hiatus, the Punjab University Department of Student Affairs Pioneers’ Debating Society hosted the ‘All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest’. The two-day event featured 25 teams and 65 speakers from various educational institutions, including Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore, King Edward Medical University Lahore, and Government College University Lahore.
According to University of the Punjab, the competition’s closing ceremony was attended by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Director of the Department of Student Affairs Dr Shahzeb Khan, faculty members, and a large number of students. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali emphasized the significance of teachers’ roles beyond the classroom and encouraged students’ participation in both curricular and co-curricular activities to foster national development and responsible citizenship. He praised the efforts of student societies in unveiling students’ hidden talents and highlighted PU’s commitment to providing a positive campus environment.
The Vice Chancellor also commended Dr Shahzeb Khan and his team for organizing the event, which served to boost students’ confidence. Dr Shahzeb Khan expressed pride in the talent of PU’s students and their achievements across various fields. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and others for their support in making the event successful and pledged to continue promoting positive student activities.
Participants hailed the competition as a significant institutional achievement and expressed optimism for more such events in the future. The adjudication panels consisted of several judges for both Urdu and English categories, with Government College University Lahore winning the team trophy.
