Islamabad: Punjab University (PU) has expelled one learner and penalized 36 others for breaching disciplinary rules.
The institution’s spokesperson revealed that Muhammad Asrar from the Department of Philosophy has been declared persona non-grata and barred from entering the campus.
Muhammad Ammad Akhtar (Political Science), Mohammad Ammar Khan, Haji Zain Sarfraz, Atif Nawaz (University Law College), Muhammad Samiullah, Muhammad Farooq (Social Work), Shoaib Amir Fakhri (Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center), Hunain Arif, Ansar Ali (Hailey College of Commerce), Muhammad Salar Ahmad Gondal, Hammad Ali, Samiullah, Shamraiz Mumtaz (Institute of Social and Cultural Studies), Zain Shoukat, Tayyab Ahmad, Anwar Kamal, Muhammad Anis (IER), Usman Ahmad (Institute of Engineering and Environmental Engineering), Ghazanfar Ali Rehan (Institute of Geology), Muhammad Hamid Raza (Gender Studies), and Ghulam Murtaza (Sports Sciences and Physical Education) were each fined Rs. 20,000.
The university also placed Sadia Baloch, Maqsoom Abdullah, Abubakar Siddique, Miqdad Ali, Abdul Karim Ahsan, Muhammad Suleman (University Law College), Samiullah (Institute of Agricultural Sciences), Muhammad Irfan (Economics), Muhammad Yar, Fida Muhammad (Hailey College of Commerce), Suleman Yar Khan (Political Science), Inamullah, Muhamamd Irfan (Institute of Social and Cultural Studies), Abdul Hayee (Gender Studies), and Jamil Ahmad (School of Chemistry) on three months’ probation.
The disciplinary committee cleared Saifullah (Gender Studies), Muhammad Suleman (University Law College), Shahzad (Social Work), Muhammad Wahab Khurshid (Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology), and Muhammad Abrar (Digital Media). The results of Muhammad Farooq (Social Work) were withheld.
Following Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali’s directives, the university will continue to take impartial measures against pupils involved in disciplinary infractions. The University Disciplinary Committee is actively reviewing disciplinary proceedings based on merit and with urgency.
