Punjab Arts Council Commemorates Kashmir Solidarity Day with Cultural Events

Rawalpindi, The Punjab Arts Council marked Kashmir Solidarity Day with a series of cultural events, including a photographic exhibition, a walk, and competitions in speeches, tableaux, and Kashmiri songs, highlighting the ongoing struggle and resilience of the Kashmiri people.

According to Punjab Arts Council, the event was attended by key figures such as the General Secretary of the All Party Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir and Pakistan Chapter, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, and the Information Secretary, Imtiaz Wani. Mateen condemned the severe atrocities committed in Occupied Kashmir, emphasizing that peace in the world remains unattainable without the freedom of Kashmir. He reiterated the Kashmiris’ demand for the right to self-determination, a sentiment echoed by Wani, who called for global and Pakistani support for Kashmir’s cause.

The Director of the Arts Council, Waqar Ahmed, stated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination at political, moral, and diplomatic levels, advocating for a resolution in accordance with the UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. The event also featured a minute of silence for the Kashmiri martyrs, and the flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir were hoisted.

Competitions held during the event saw participation from various schools, with Eagle Public School, Ames School System, Alfarooq Public School, and Green Valley School winning top honors in the tableau competition. Individual students were awarded for their performances in speeches and Kashmiri songs, highlighting the cultural and emotional connection with the Kashmiri struggle.

The event drew significant participation from the twin cities, underlining the solidarity and support for the Kashmiri people from across Pakistan.
