Muhammad Jawad Darwish Successfully Defends PhD Dissertation on Barley Drought Tolerance

Haripur: Muhammad Jawad Darwish, a PhD scholar at The University of Haripur, has successfully defended his dissertation on evaluating drought tolerance in barley genotypes, contributing to sustainable agricultural development in Pakistan. The research, carried out under the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Afghan Nationals, was overseen by a team of experienced supervisors and reviewed by eminent experts in the field.

According to The University of Haripur, the dissertation was titled "Drought Tolerance Evaluation of Barley Genotypes in Various Agro-Ecologies of Pakistan" and was supervised by Dr. Sami Ullah Khan, with co-supervision by Dr. Abdul Qayyum and Dr. Sajjad Khan. External reviews were conducted by Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmad of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, and Prof. Dr. Wajid Nasim Jatoi of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

The defense was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abid Farid, along with faculty members, chairpersons, and students. The scholar's findings, focusing on drought tolerance in different agro-ecological regions, were presented, offering significant insights for the agricultural sector. Prof. Dr. Farid congratulated Darwish, acknowledging the contributions of the supervisors and external reviewers, and extended gratitude to all participants for their involvement in the session.
