Mirpurkhas, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, launched a scathing critique of his political rivals during a public gathering in Mirpurkhas, following an earlier event in Chachro, Tharparkar. He highlighted the weakening stance of the PML-N in the upcoming general elections, slated for February 8, and accused Nawaz Sharif of seeking to manipulate election results in his favor.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Zardari’s comments came as part of his nationwide election campaign, drawing attention to the alleged attempts by Nawaz Sharif to pressure the caretaker government for electoral gains similar to those purportedly afforded to Imran Khan in the last general elections. The PPP chairman addressed the gathered crowd, acknowledging their support amidst challenging weather conditions and expressing his vision for a politics centered around service to the people, in contrast to what he described as the politics of revenge, hatred, and division practiced by other parties.
Zardari’s address also included a condemnation of recent attacks on PPP workers in Karachi, issuing a stern warning against those perpetuating violence and division. He outlined his promises if elected to power, focusing on initiatives aimed at improving income, providing free solar power, building housing units with ownership rights for women, expanding the Benazir Income Support Program, and introducing interest-free loans for businesswomen. Furthermore, Zardari promised the launch of various cards aimed at assisting farmers, laborers, and youth, along with the commitment to establish universities in each district and enhance the public health system.
The PPP chairman’s appeal extended to the electorate in Mirpurkhas district, urging support for PPP candidates and emphasizing a commitment to serve the populace post-election. His rhetoric underscored a vision for a Pakistan fed up with division and poised for unity and progress under his leadership.
