ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the longstanding cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan during the inauguration of Tajikistan Culture Week at the Pakistan National Council of Arts. Highlighting the connection through the ancient Silk Route and shared Persian language, the president underscored the enduring friendship between the two nations.
President Zardari welcomed the Tajikistan Cultural Delegation, led by Minister for Culture Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda, acknowledging their visit as a reflection of the strong bonds between the countries. He noted that the Silk Road historically facilitated not only trade but also the exchange of ideas and cultural traditions.
The president expressed the importance of the Persian language, which has been integral in shaping the shared cultural heritage of the region. He commended Tajikistan for preserving this rich tradition and emphasized the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations.
President Zardari expressed confidence that the cultural events in Islamabad and Lahore would be well-received by Pakistanis and extended an invitation to the Tajik delegation to visit all provinces. He highlighted the broader regional cooperation through organizations like ECO and SCO, reinforcing the shared vision for connectivity and harmony.
Minister Amonzoda echoed the sentiment of longstanding ties, emphasizing the spiritual, linguistic, and cultural connections that underpin the strategic partnership between the two countries. She highlighted Pakistan’s rich heritage and the shared Persian-Tajik literary tradition.
The event concluded with vibrant performances by a Tajik musical chorus, showcasing traditional music and attire. The cultural exchange was marked by the exchange of gifts, with President Zardari receiving a traditional Tajik coat and cap, and presenting a portrait bearing Persian verses to the Tajik Minister.
