Karachi, At a public meeting commemorating the 16th Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khudabakhsh, President of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) and former President, Asif Ali Zardari, emphasized the party’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made in the February 8 election manifesto. Zardari’s speech highlighted the PPP’s focus on addressing the country’s pressing issues and working towards the betterment of Pakistan.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, Zardari, while addressing the gathering, assured the public of the PPP’s dedication to its pledges. He stated that the party has always fulfilled its commitments and stressed that Pakistan, rich in resources, suffers not from poverty but from the limited vision of those in power in Islamabad.
Zardari criticized the current leadership in Islamabad for their narrow perspective and inability to perceive the struggles of the poor and underprivileged in various cities across Pakistan. He argued that the real issues lie in the capital, where the plight of the impoverished and their daily challenges are often overlooked.
Reflecting on his tenure as President, Zardari emphasized that his initiatives and projects were not for personal glory but in honor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He credited the power, thinking, people, and votes of Benazir Bhutto for his presidency, highlighting his commitment to continuing her legacy and mission.
Urging patience and cooperation among the public and party workers, President Zardari expressed his determination to build a better Pakistan for future generations. He evoked the legacies of Quaid-i-Awam and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, noting that their visionary thinking is still remembered and celebrated.
Zardari outlined the PPP’s goals, focusing on providing basic necessities like water and grain, building infrastructure like canals and dams, developing regions like Thar, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, and enhancing trade opportunities. He assured that these objectives would be central to the PPP’s manifesto and would be realized in action in the future.
The speech by President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to Pakistan’s development and progress, emphasizing the party’s role in advocating for the rights and well-being of the people.
