Karachi, Leaders of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) in Karachi, Javed Malik and Kaleemullah, have voiced strong criticism against recent utility price hikes and service interruptions, specifically targeting Sui Gas Company and K Electric for their management and pricing policies.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, the leaders reacted sharply to the ongoing load shedding of Sui Gas and the substantial increase in utility bills. They accused Sui Gas Company of following K Electric’s lead, with gas being both expensive and scarce for consumers. The party leaders highlighted that gas load shedding continues throughout the day and night, exacerbating the burden on domestic consumers. They labeled these actions as injustice and cruelty and emphasized that such continuous violation of consumer rights is intolerable.
Malik and Kaleemullah pointed out that the recent decision to increase gas prices to mitigate the losses of gas companies has added to the financial strain on the public. They expressed concern that while utility companies are being rescued from financial distress, the rights and financial well-being of the consumers are being neglected.
The statement further critiqued K Electric for its management, likening the company to an “unbridled horse and an unruly elephant.” The leaders argued that both K Electric and Sui Gas’s policies are pushing consumers, traders, and industrialists to the brink of economic collapse. They lamented the lack of consumer rights protection in the country and accused mafias of operating with impunity.
In response to these challenges, PASBAN announced its intention to unite all affected users on a single platform. The aim is to orchestrate a collective effort to safeguard the rights of consumers against what they perceive as unfair practices by utility providers.
