Karachi, On the occasion of Allama Iqbal’s 146th birth anniversary, leaders of the Pasban Democratic Party, including Chairman Altaf Shakoor and General Secretary Iqbal Hashmi, urged the nation to transcend mere celebration and strive to realize the vision of the celebrated poet for Pakistan. They expressed concern that the current state of Pakistan does not reflect the aspirations of its founders, Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
According to PASBAN Democratic Party, Shakoor and Hashmi criticized the prevailing disparities between the ruling class and the general public. They lamented that while the rulers enjoy numerous facilities, the populace suffers from grave injustices. The leaders attributed the nation’s challenges, including its heavy indebtedness and dependency on the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to a departure from Iqbal’s ideals.
The statement emphasized that the country’s entanglement in debts and subjugation to IMF policies have compromised its independence and sovereignty. The Pasban leaders argued that the adoption of austerity measures and a rejection of lavish lifestyles by the country’s leadership could potentially extricate Pakistan from its financial predicaments.
Remembering Allama Iqbal, the leaders highlighted his multifaceted contributions as a poet, barrister, and politician. They credited his poetic and political endeavors with not only bolstering the freedom movement within the country but also gaining international acclaim. Iqbal’s vision of a beautiful, free, and independent Pakistan was reiterated as a guiding principle for the nation’s path forward.
This call by the Pasban Democratic Party resonates with the need for a reevaluation of national priorities and governance in line with the ideals envisioned by one of the nation’s founding figures.
