Colombo: As the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup prepares to commence on 30 September, Pakistan is set to initiate its campaign against Bangladesh on 2 October in Colombo. The significant achievement of qualifying for this prestigious event, marked by an unbeaten run in the qualifiers held in Lahore, sets a promising stage for the team.
The squad, led by captain Fatima Sana, has been in Colombo fine-tuning their strategies and adapting to conditions similar to those back home. Despite a washed-out warm-up match against Sri Lanka, the team remains optimistic, having tested various combinations in their recent series against South Africa. The captain emphasized the squad’s dedication and readiness to tackle the challenges ahead, aiming to reach the knockout stages with consistent performance and teamwork.
Pakistan’s journey in the tournament will see them play all group matches at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. The potential to compete in the semi-finals and finals scheduled for 29 October and 2 November in Colombo adds further motivation for the squad.
With a 15-member team and robust support staff, Pakistan is determined to compete fiercely and showcase their skills on this international platform, aiming to make their nation proud.
