Pakistan Spinners Achieve Historic Feat in Multan Test Victory

Multan: In a remarkable display of spin bowling, Pakistan’s Noman Ali and Sajid Khan became the first pair in over fifty years to take all 20 wickets in a Test match, leading their team to a series-equalling victory against England in Multan.

According to International Cricket Council, the second Test saw left-arm orthodox spinner Noman Ali secure a total of 11 wickets for 147 runs, including a stunning 8 for 46 on the final day. His teammate, Sajid Khan, complemented this performance with 9 wickets for 204 runs across both innings, earning him the Player of the Match award. This victory not only marked Pakistan’s first home Test win since 2021 but also mirrored a rare feat last accomplished by Dennis Lillee and Bob Massie in 1972.

The win provided a significant boost to Pakistan, especially after their recent struggles on home soil. Captain Shan Masood described the victory as a “relief,” highlighting the importance of reversing their fortunes and starting a positive trend in home conditions. Masood’s leadership was pivotal in this turnaround, marking his first win as captain of the Pakistan team.

As both teams prepare for the upcoming third Test in Rawalpindi, this historic achievement underscores the potential of Pakistan’s cricketing prowess, particularly in leveraging their spin talent.
