Multan: Two Pakistani cricketers have made significant gains in the latest ICC Men’s Test Rankings, following their performances against the West Indies. Batter Saud Shakeel and bowler Noman Ali have both entered the top 10 in their respective categories.
According to a statement by International Cricket Council, Saud Shakeel’s performance in the first Test, where he scored 84 runs in the first innings, has propelled him to eighth place on the batting list with 753 ratings points. This achievement places him above notable players such as Steve Smith of Australia and India’s Rishabh Pant.
Noman Ali, on the other hand, has made a breakthrough into the top 10 bowlers. His six-wicket haul in Multan was instrumental in securing Pakistan’s 127-run victory over the West Indies, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series.
The rankings update has also seen movement among other players. Pakistan’s Sajid Khan made a notable leap of 18 places to reach the 23rd spot following his performance in the first Test. Meanwhile, Jomel Warrican from the West Indies also improved his position, moving up 12 spots to be ranked 41st.
Despite these shifts, there has been no change in the top 10 all-rounders, with India’s Ravindra Jadeja maintaining his lead in this category.
