Pakistan Cricket Board Announces Female Umpires Induction Course at Gaddafi Stadium

Lahore, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled plans to conduct a specialized induction course for female umpires, scheduled for January-February 2024 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, this initiative is aimed at integrating more female umpires into the cricketing framework of the country. Those who successfully complete the course will join the PCB Female Panel of Umpires and will have the opportunity to officiate at region/district and club level matches in the forthcoming domestic cricket season.

The course, extending over four days, will commence with three days dedicated to imparting basic knowledge about umpiring laws, regulations, and rules of the game. On the fourth and final day, participants will be assessed through a written test, a fitness test, and an interview.

Interested candidates can apply for the course by filling out an online registration form available on the PCB’s official website (PCB.com.pk/UR) until December 31, 2023. The PCB has highlighted a preference for former women’s cricketers in the course registration process.

Eligibility for the course is restricted to female candidates aged between 28 and 40. Shortlisted registrants will be required to submit a fee of PKR 15,000. This course represents a significant step by the PCB towards promoting gender inclusivity in cricket umpiring, providing women with the necessary training and opportunities to officiate in cricket matches across various levels.

The initiative is part of PCB’s broader effort to encourage female participation in cricket, not only as players but also in key decision-making roles within the sport.
