Pakistan Awami Tehreek Backs PPP in NA-127, Lahore

Lahore, In a significant political development, the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has announced its support for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the NA-127 constituency, Lahore. This decision was confirmed by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, the Secretary General of PAT.

According to Pakistan People’s Party, Gandapur emphasized the PAT’s commitment to the PPP, highlighting plans for a public rally in Lahore to formally announce this support. The decision to back the PPP in the bye-elections stems from the PPP’s consistent support for PAT’s stance on the Model Town incident. Gandapur expressed gratitude towards PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his unwavering support on this matter.

Gandapur critiqued the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for engaging in what he termed as ‘politics of revenge’, declaring it impossible for PAT to align with them. “We have to bury the politics of revenge for Pakistan,” he stated, affirming PAT’s support for PPP in NA-127 and their commitment to ensure its success.

The meeting also saw Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of PPP, visiting the Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat in Lahore, where he laid a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial and filled the membership form of Minhaj-ul-Quran. The visit included discussions with PAT’s senior leadership, including Gandapur and other key members.

Bilawal Bhutto, addressing journalists post-visit, outlined his vision for Pakistan as a modern state and advocated for a moderate interpretation of Islam. He also reiterated the need for an impartial investigation into the Model Town incident. Chairman Bilawal emphasized his 10-point economic agenda, promising detailed plans in the PPP’s upcoming election manifesto.

The PPP Chairman’s visit also included condolences offered to Barrister Aitezaz Ahsan for his recent family bereavement, showcasing the empathetic side of political engagements.
