Faisalabad: During the General Elections 2024, the Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from NA-95 Faisalabad-I was elected with 144,229 votes, representing 51 percent of the 284,177 ballots cast, but only 28 percent of the 514,641 registered voters in the constituency.

NA-95 was among 70 out of 266 National Assembly constituencies where the winner secured 50 percent or more of the polled votes. However, 133,131 or 47 percent of the voters did not support the winner, and the winner’s share among the total registered voters remained at 28 percent.

The runner-up candidate garnered 33 percent of the ballots cast, while the third-placed candidate received seven percent. The remaining candidates collectively secured seven percent of the votes. Additionally, 6,817 or two percent of the total ballots were declared invalid, meaning they did not go to any candidate.

This report is part of FAFEN’s constituency-wise analysis on the unrepresentativeness of Pakistan’s electoral outcomes. The series demonstrates how the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system can affect representation in multi-candidate electoral contests in Pakistan, where three or more contenders are typical. In such scenarios, a majority of voters may feel unrepresented, raising questions about legitimacy and potentially contributing to political instability.
