Karachi, In a vocal critique of the current state of governance and public safety, Iqbal Hashmi, the General Secretary of the Pasban Democratic Party, has demanded that the government allow citizens to arm themselves for protection amid escalating unrest in Karachi. He accused the People’s Party of deteriorating the city’s condition and equated the local administration’s inefficiency with the rampant criminal activities plaguing Karachi.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Hashmi expressed frustration over the increasing crime rate and perceived governmental neglect, especially highlighting the adverse conditions in Karachi, Pakistan’s economic lifeline. He asserted that the Sindh government, led by the People’s Party, is failing Karachi’s residents, with rising incidents of robberies and murders. Hashmi called for the initiation of a ‘Karachi rescue campaign’ to save the city from descending into further chaos. He warned that the ongoing unrest could drive the business community away and likened the city’s plight to that of Palestine, attributing the surge in crime to both political and administrative complicity. The party’s statement underscores a dire need for reform in the governance and security sectors of Karachi to restore safety and stability in the city.
