Karachi: The “World Culture Festival Karachi,” currently in its 35th day, featured an engaging exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan Intangible Cultural Heritage” at the Ahmed Parvez Art Gallery, showcasing Azerbaijani artworks under the project “Second Life: The Art of Revival.” The event was inaugurated by prominent local and international figures and aimed to promote cultural exchange and appreciation.
According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the exhibition was inaugurated by Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar, Sindh’s Provincial Minister of Home Affairs and Law, alongside Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Provincial Minister of Culture, and Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. They were joined by Dadash Mamedov, President of the Azerbaijan Arts Council. The exhibition, part of the broader 38-day World Culture Festival, has brought together artists from over 40 countries, including 18 Azerbaijani artists like Roya Hasan and Elshan Rzazade, who have contributed to a unique art project that repurposes old, unused carpets into vibrant art pieces.
The Ministers and Council Presidents emphasized the festival’s role in enhancing Karachi’s global image and fostering diplomatic ties through cultural diplomacy. The event also highlighted the similar cultural values between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, with both sides expressing mutual appreciation and confirming continued collaboration in future festivals.
Security measures and the overall management of the event were praised, with special acknowledgment of the efforts by local government and security officials to ensure a safe environment for all participants. The festival, which has significantly contributed to the local economy and cultural scene, is being considered for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records for its scale and impact.
