Karachi Education Reform Calls for Minister’s Resignation Over Corruption and Mismanagement

Karachi: In a stern critique of the local educational system, General Secretary Iqbal Hashmi of the Pasban Democratic Party has called for the resignation of Education Minister Sardar Shah if he fails to address the pervasive corruption within his department. This demand follows ongoing allegations of mismanagement and irregularities in the examination processes for students in Karachi.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Hashmi emphasized the detrimental impact of these corrupt practices on the students’ futures, particularly highlighting the fear and uncertainty surrounding matriculation and entrance exam results. He recounted previous incidents where deserving students were failed, and no action was taken against responsible officials from last year’s scandals.

The General Secretary detailed the critical state of the educational boards in Sindh, attributing it to a systemic decline exacerbated by corruption that the provincial government has failed to eradicate. He stressed the need for strict measures, including the dismissal of incompetent officers and the employment of honest teachers to evaluate student exams, to restore integrity and trust in the system.

Hashmi’s comments underscored a broader concern about the education sector in Sindh, citing the influence of drug mafias in government schools and a general lack of educational standards across the province. He called for an end to the harassment of students and parents and for more accessible admission processes for first-year students.
