Kachhi Voter Registration Falls Short of National Average, Gender Gap Highlighted

Kachhi: Voter registration in the district of Kachhi stands at 31% of its estimated 2025 population, significantly below the national average of 54%, according to recent statistics. The figures, derived from the Election Commission of Pakistan’s district-wise electoral roll and cross-referenced with the 2023 Digital Census, reveal a substantial gender gap contributing to the low registration rate.

According to Free and Fair Election Network, Kachhi’s estimated 2025 population is 498,703, based on an inter-censal annual growth rate of 6.14% from the base population of 442,674 recorded in the 2023 census. The district has 153,974 registered voters, comprising 87,262 males and 66,712 females, with males accounting for 56.7% of the registered voters and females 43.3%. This positions Kachhi as 103rd in population size out of 136 districts nationally, yet it ranks 124th in voter registration rate.

The registration disparity is primarily attributed to a gender gap, with female registration at 28% compared to 33% for males. This gap reflects issues beyond mere census enumeration, pointing to structural barriers such as restricted mobility, lower female CNIC penetration, and social constraints on civic participation. Mobile NADRA units and enhanced outreach by the Election Commission of Pakistan are deemed crucial to addressing these barriers ahead of the upcoming general elections.
