Jamaat-e-Islami to Continue Advocacy in Public and Domestic Courts, Says Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

Lahore, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, has reiterated his party’s commitment to addressing public issues through both public and domestic courts. He called for the completion of the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project and criticized the United States for interfering in Pakistan’s internal affairs. Rehman also urged the protesting PDM parties to apologize for contributing to the fall of the previous government and to clarify their objections to recent elections.

According to Jamaat-E-Islami Pakistan, Rehman spoke at a “Meet the Press” event in Mansoura, where he announced that Jamaat-e-Islami would take the issue of election rigging to the Supreme Court. He expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the recent elections and criticized the PML-N, PPP, and MQM for failing to address issues of governance and corruption. Rehman stated that Jamaat-e-Islami plans no political or electoral alliances, but will focus on constitutional and democratic reforms.

Rehman also criticized the governance system in place, stating that reforms are urgently needed to avoid further economic and political instability. He urged a return to constitutional principles and suggested electoral reforms, including electronic voting machines and proportional representation, to strengthen democracy and reduce the dominance of feudal lords.

On the topic of energy, Rehman called for a review of expensive electricity contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), highlighting the financial burden on citizens due to high electricity costs and line losses from K Electric. He also addressed issues in the education system, suggesting further amendments to the 18th Amendment to make education a national policy with a uniform curriculum.

Rehman emphasized the need for social reforms, advocating for women’s rights, the resolution of the issue of missing persons, and support for the people of Balochistan. He also touched on international matters, expressing support for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and condemning human rights violations in Palestine. He urged Pakistani youth to raise their voices in support of Palestinian causes and pledged to continue mobilizing support for the people of Palestine.
