Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Criticizes Election Process, Calls for Protection of Democracy

Lahore, Siraj-ul-Haq, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has criticized the electoral process in Pakistan, alleging that recent election results were manipulated through mathematical formulas rather than actual vote counts. He emphasized the need for democratic parties to play a significant role in safeguarding democracy and constitutional rights.

According to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Siraj-ul-Haq made these remarks while speaking to officials in Mansurah. He expressed his concern that the essence of democracy is being undermined by what he described as electoral fraud. Haq stressed that Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to freeing people from servitude and ensuring the establishment of a system based on the principles of Islam.

Haq also contended that a government formed through rigging cannot effectively address public issues and has eroded the nation’s trust in institutions. He suggested that the cycle of corruption must be broken to achieve stability and progress. During the discussion, he advocated for the formation of a judicial commission to audit elections and insisted on the importance of announcing results as per Form 45, in line with electoral rules.

The leader further highlighted the urgency of national dialogue and shared that a recent conference in Islamabad brought together political leaders and independent observers who echoed the nation’s sentiments. Haq warned of potential tragedies if the people’s voice is not heeded and urged the ruling circles to uphold their oaths and remain neutral for the country’s strength.

Concluding his address, Haq criticized the current political instability and economic challenges, pointing to the rising costs of utilities and potential IMF bailouts. He argued that a government lacking a public mandate cannot effectively represent Pakistan or advocate for issues like Palestine and Kashmir. He called for solidarity across political parties to strive for authentic democracy.
