Karachi, Mahmood Maulvi, the President of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party Sindh, has sharply criticized Imran Khan for his recent actions, accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder of jeopardizing the country’s security by writing a letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Maulvi contends that Khan’s actions are prioritizing political interests over national welfare, especially amid the country’s dire economic straits.
According to Istehkam-e-Pakistan, Maulvi expressed his concerns over the deteriorating economic condition of Pakistan, stating that the nation’s economy is “taking its last breath” and the populace is increasingly disillusioned. He argued that in such a critical period, Khan’s decision to write to the IMF without considering the repercussions reveals a disregard for the country’s interests. Maulvi suggested that Khan’s priorities lie with political gains rather than the national good, questioning the motive behind the letter to the IMF.
Maulvi further asserted that Khan’s aspirations to return to the prime ministerial office are misplaced, pointing to a broader issue within PTI where democratic values have been overshadowed by personal interests. He accused Khan of fostering a dictatorial environment within the party and failing to represent the public’s aspirations.
Recalling Khan’s history of calling for civil disobedience and encouraging unofficial remittance channels before his tenure as Prime Minister, Maulvi branded these actions as unpatriotic. He emphasized the need for accountability, urging that those compromising the nation’s interests should face legal consequences.
This criticism from Istehkam-e-Pakistan underscores the deep political divisions in Pakistan and the intense scrutiny of actions taken by political figures like Imran Khan, especially when related to sensitive matters like negotiations with international financial institutions.
