Islamabad, The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) will remain closed on May 28, 2024, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, which marks the anniversary of Pakistan’s first nuclear tests conducted in 1998. The university closure aligns with a public holiday across Pakistan as declared by the Prime Minister’s office.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the decision to close follows a notification from the Cabinet Division, and the university’s President has approved this measure. The closure is part of a national observance commemorating a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s history, reflecting its status as a nuclear power.
The university has ensured that all stakeholders, including faculty, students, and administrative staff, are informed well in advance. The notice specifies that all constituent units of IIUI will also observe the closure, and normal activities will resume the following day.
