Insights and Innovation at IHPC Workshop

Multan: The Inzamam-ul-Haq High-Performance Centre (IHPC) became a hub of activity and learning as it hosted a significant one-day workshop featuring cricket coaches from six regions, according to an announcement by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday. This event marks a pivotal step in the ongoing efforts to enhance coaching standards nationwide.

Participants in the workshop included team management from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Faisalabad, Lahore Blues, Karachi Whites, Hyderabad, and Quetta regions. These coaches gathered to engage in comprehensive discussions aimed at addressing the challenges faced in contemporary coaching, improving performance under pressure, and employing innovative coaching strategies.

Shahid Aslam, the National Cricket Academy’s Head of Coach Education and Development, spearheaded the workshop. Through a series of lectures and interactive activities, Aslam delved into critical topics such as effective use of data and technology in coaching. Umar Rasheed, a former first-class player and current head of IHPC, played a supporting role, enriching the session with his expertise.

An integral component of the event was the feedback session, where coaches shared insights not only on the day’s educational content but also on their personal experiences and approaches to modern coaching and mentoring. This exchange of ideas is seen as crucial for the evolution of coaching practices in Pakistan.

This workshop follows a similar event held at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi on 15 September, targeting coaches from Dera Murad Jamali, FATA, Karachi, Larkana, Multan, and Rawalpindi regions. The PCB continues to emphasize coach development as a vital element in elevating the game and nurturing talent across the nation. Through such initiatives, the board aims to consistently enhance the skills of domestic cricket coaches, ultimately contributing to the overall growth of the sport.
