Islamabad: The Faculty of Engineering and Technology at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) recently hosted a workshop titled “Journey to Excellence: Bridging Academic Goals and Personal Development.” The event aimed to guide students and faculty on career advancement and research collaboration strategies.
The workshop featured Professor Dr. Waseem Haider from Central Michigan University, who engaged with faculty, students, and alumni of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET).
Engr. Imtiaz Alam Shah formally opened the workshop, introducing the guest speaker and outlining the event’s objectives. The program included three sessions: a presentation by Dr. Haider, a question-answer segment, and concluding remarks by Dr. Ihsan ul Haq.
Key topics covered included career counseling, opportunities for postgraduate study abroad, strategies for impactful CVs and proposals, and personal and academic development. The workshop offered students insights into international academic standards and professional expectations.
During his visit, Dr. Haider met with departmental heads, including Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Dr. Rafi Ullah Khan, Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Discussions under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik explored avenues such as faculty exchange, joint research supervision, and a potential memorandum of understanding.
Dr. Haider also toured the laboratories of departments including DCE, DECE, DME, and CAEPE, reviewing research prospects and collaborative projects. The visit concluded with a commitment to strengthen academic cooperation and promote shared educational objectives.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Engr. Muhammad Amjad, Assistant Professor at DME, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean of FET. Students and alumni actively participated, fostering dialogue on academic excellence and career readiness.
