Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has reported a record-breaking influx of applications for its undergraduate programs, with over 17,000 prospective students vying for a spot this year. In response to this substantial interest, the university has increased its undergraduate seats by 2,500, making a total of 7,500 seats available across its main and sub-campuses.
UET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir emphasized that the increase in seats is part of the university’s commitment to expanding access to higher education. This decision reflects the growing demand for UET’s educational offerings and its reputation for academic excellence.
To accommodate the rise in female students, UET has converted two boys’ hostels, Tariq Hall and Khalid Hall, into girls’ hostels. This move aims to enhance residential facilities for female students on campus.
The first merit list for undergraduate admissions has been published, with the second one scheduled for release on August 1. The merit thresholds for various programs have been detailed, with Computer Science requiring an 87.7% threshold, while other programs like Cyber Security, Interior Design, and Business Analytics also demand high academic standards.
The increased interest in UET’s programs highlights the institution’s strong appeal and commitment to meeting the educational aspirations of a diverse student body.
