ICC Reveals December Player of the Month Nominees

Dubai, The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for its Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for December 2023, featuring top performers from crucial matches in the ICC World Test Championship and other international fixtures.

According to International Cricket Council, the men’s category includes Australia’s Pat Cummins, Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam, and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips. Cummins is recognized for his exceptional bowling that led Australia to a series victory over Pakistan, including a ten-wicket haul in the second Test in Melbourne. Taijul Islam earned his nomination for his decisive bowling against New Zealand, where he took ten wickets in two Tests, including six for 75 in the first Test. Glenn Phillips stands out for his batting heroics against Bangladesh, scoring a crucial 87 in a challenging pitch and contributing to New Zealand’s series-levelling victory.

The women’s category features Zimbabwe’s Precious Marange, India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma. Marange is nominated for her outstanding bowling in the ICC Women’s T20WC Africa Qualifier, including a hat-trick in the final match. Rodrigues shone with her batting prowess in Tests and ODIs against England and Australia. Sharma’s all-round performance in the same series, including nine wickets in the Test against England and pivotal runs in the ODIs, has put her in contention.

The winners will be determined by a combination of votes from an independent ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide. The Academy comprises a panel of cricket experts, journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members, contributing 90% of the vote. The remaining 10% comes from fans who can vote on the ICC website until Saturday.
